Local development min. reviews Sinai development strategy

CAIRO - 17 September 2018: Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawy discussed the national strategy for the development of Sinai during a meeting with South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda and North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha on Monday.

This comes within the state's keenness on supporting the Sinai Peninsula's development plans and following up the pace of under-construction developmental projects there which cover a wide range of sectors including the industrial, agricultural, mining, tourism, etc.

Investment Minister Sahar Nasr held talks recently with a World Bank mission to accelerate steps for finalizing the measures necessary for extending $1 billion grants to support the Sinai Integrated Development Program and back the private sector as well as small and medium-sized enterprises in Sinai.

Arab funds; the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, have already contributed $2.5 billion to various Sinai development projects.
