FILE – Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria during the Holy Synod meeting
NEW YORK - 17 September 2018: Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawados II arrived in Buffalo, New York on Monday as part of his pastoral visit to the US.
The pope is accompanied by Bishop David of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York and New England.
They were welcomed by a large number of priests and congregation members.
Pope Tawadros arrived in the US on Thursday on a month-long pastoral visit. It is his second pastoral visit here since becoming pope to visit parishes and dioceses of the North Eastern United States.
The first papal pastoral visit to the US was in 2015. He then visited the parishes in the southern part of the US and attended celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the consecration of the south US Coptic diocese.
