CAIRO - 10 September 2018: Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Sunday a statement issued by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet (OHCHR) on Egypt’s judicial sentences against defendants guilty of arming Rabaa sit-in.
"It is a bad start to the UN commissioner in her new post, as she deviated from the principles of objectivity and professionalism and overstepped the boundaries of her authority," the Foreign Ministry stressed in an official statement.
Egypt rejects all direct and indirect allegations against its judicial system and its integrity, the statement read.
It warned against believing the lies of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood and turning a blind eye to the group’s terror acts and its killing innocents.
The Egyptian judicial system is fully observing the rule of law and ensuring that defendants enjoy the right to defend themselves, the statement read.
The Foreign Ministry said the UN commissioner’s claim that the judicial rulings are a "miscarriage of justice" is completely unacceptable.
It urged Bachelet to show impartiality and professionalism in her future stances.
