CAIRO - 6 September 2018: An Arab League (AL) ministerial committee convened Thursday to prepare for the 2019 Arab Economic and Social Development (AESD) summit in Beirut.
The committee, in charge of follow up and preparations for the fourth AESD summit, convened under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia, represented by its deputy minister of finance and was attended by representatives from Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Tunisia and Morocco and the Arab League secretary general.
It probed recommendations of Wednesday's ministerial committee meeting on the follow up of the 2013 AESD summit in Riyadh resolutions and preparations for the 2019 AESD summit in Beirut.
It raised its recommendations to the 102nd session of the Arab Economic and Social Council due to meet later in the day.
The AESD was formed as an exclusively economic and developmental conference involving the private sector, banks, chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture.
