Egypt supports stability in South Sudan: Sisi

BEIJING – 3 September 2018: Egypt supports all efforts to finalize a peaceful political settlement in Juba, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi told his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir Monday.

The two African leaders met at Sisi’s residency in Beijing in the framework of the Forum on China and Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Sisi said in the meeting that he backs a national dialogue in South Sudan to resolve the root causes and achieve national reconciliation, according to a statement by spokesperson of the presidency Bassam Rady.

The Egyptian president also congratulated Kiir for signing a peace deal in August, emphasizing that Cairo is keen on continuing cooperation with Juba in all fields.

Further, as the presidents discussed level so cooperation, Sisi reiterated that his country will continue to offer aid and technical assistance to South Sudan, as well as go ahead in mutual projects.

Kiir also praised the historic relationship between the two states and Egypt’s support to stability in South Sudan.
