CAIRO – 21 August 2018: Egypt’s Meteorological Authority expects hot weather across Egypt on the first day of Eid El-Adha, with an extreme rise in temperature in Upper Egypt, and a slight decline in temperature during the night. The capital will see highs of 36 degrees Celsius (°C) and lows of 26°C.

The north coasts of the country are expected to witness fine weather, with a slight rise in temperatures in the morning and a slight decline in temperatures during the night.

Clouds are low in northern Egypt. Winds are moderate northeasterly, but are active in western coasts of the country and the Gulf of Suez, which may cause a disturbance in navigation there.

The Red Sea’s wavelength will vary from mild to volatile, with a wavelength of 1.5 to 2 meters and northwesterly surface winds.

The Mediterranean Sea will be moderate, with a wavelength of 1.5 to 2 meters and northwesterly surface winds.

Generally, the climate during Eid allows citizens to go out and enjoy the parks, River Nile picnics, as well as the beaches overlooking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

Weather in the cities along the Mediterranean coast of Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh will be fair, making them nice places for families to spend a pleasant weekend.

Eid El-Adha, also known as the feast of sacrifice, is an annual Islamic holiday celebrated worldwide. This year it is celebrated from Monday, August 20 until Friday, August 24.
