CAIRO - August 2018: Units of the Egyptian, UK and French navies have taken part in war games in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
The exercises come as part of a plan by the Egyptian Armed Forces General Command to activate military cooperation with friendly countries.

The maritime drills carried out jointly with the UK Naval Forces included a training on the modern techniques to detect and handle sea mines in view of their serious impact on navigation at harbors and sea lanes of major strategic importance.
The Egyptian and French naval pieces also carried out exercises with live ammunition in the Mediterranean Sea implementing scenarios on countering terrorist threats on the high sea and inspections of suspected ships.

The joint drills contribute to identifying the combat skills of the naval units as well as help in deepening military cooperation with friendly countries in the face of threats endangering security in both the Red and the Mediterranean seas, according to experts.
