ROME - 2 August 2018: Italian Minister of Defense Elisabetta Trenta said Thursday Egypt is an indispensable partner in the Mediterranean region in achieving peace and stability, as well as defeating terrorism in the region.

During a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador in Rome Hisham Badr, Trenta said Egypt is an important country for the stability of North Africa and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Badr said the meeting was so friendly and witnessed mutual understanding of key issues in the region, topped by the Libyan file, in addition to combating terrorism and extremist ideology.

Egypt and Italy are set to start a new phase of relations, pushed by the two countries' common interest in the region’s issues, he added.
