CAIRO – 29 July 2018: World Jewish Congress Chief Ronald Lauder praised the success Egypt has achieved in a short period, affirming that the economic development Egypt is witnessing will definitely help attract foreign investments and restore Egypt’s globally recognized economy.

Received by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Sunday, Lauder expressed his appreciation to Egypt’s significant efforts in combating terrorism that threatens the security and stability of the Middle East and the world, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.

Lauder also praised Egypt’s role in pushing the development process forward and achieving comprehensive economic reform.

Sisi and Lauder reviewed Egypt’s efforts to achieve political solutions to the crises in the region which respects the sovereignty of states, without interference in their domestic affairs. They also reviewed a number of regional issues with the Israeli-Palestinian peace process on top of the list, Rady said.

During the meeting, Sisi affirmed his keenness to support the efforts aiming to resume the peace process between Israel and Palestine according to international standards and the 1967 borders, adding that it will help restore security and stability of the region.



Lauder praised the strong ties between Egypt and the United States. President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness on developing bilateral relations with the U.S. and maintaining contact with the American people, which would help shed light to them on the challenges the region is facing and strengthen mutual efforts to restore stability and security to the Middle East, Rady added.

General Intelligence Service Chief Abbas Kamel attended the meeting with Sisi and Lauder.

Sisi met with Lauder last October, where they discussed a number of issues of mutual concern atop of which the peace process in the Middle East.

U.S. secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, lauded Egypt's efforts to achieve a Palestinian national reconciliation and addressing regional issues to promote stability, Egypt’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zaid said on July 24.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in statements to media outlets that there is no country as vital to the Palestinian cause as Egypt due to its historical and political position in the region. “Egypt has an opinion, a position and an interest in the Palestinian cause,” said Abbas.
