CAIRO - 26 July 2018: The solar Research Laboratory at the National Research Institute of Astronomy & Geophysics announced massive preparations for the biggest lunar eclipse in the 21st century set to take place on Friday.

The institute announced that a specialized team will be equipped with astronomical devices such as telescopes and electronic cameras to photograph the celestial event.

The National Institute for Astronomical Research announced Wednesday that millions in Egypt and the Arab world will witness a long lunar eclipse next Friday.

The statement issued by the institute added that the eclipse is considered the longest-running in the 21st century, pointing out that the moon will pass through all stages of the eclipse from beginning to end.

The total eclipse of the moon will last one hour and 43 minutes, the statement read.
