CAIRO – 19 July 2018: Egypt’s Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram meet on July 18 with Greek Ambassador to London, Dimitris Caramitsos-Tziras, where they discussed organizing the third Edition of the “Roots Revival” initiative, also known as “Nostos 3".

The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Youth Forum for Peacemakers organized by Al-Azhar, in cooperation with the Council of Muslim Sages and the British Canterbury Diocese.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, Makram said that the huge event's details were discussed during the meeting, affirming that other meetings and discussions between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus' governments are set to take place during the coming period.

A strategy is expected to be established by the three governments to promote for the Joint tripartite event.

In May, Egypt hosted the first edition of the event, which lasted for a week. Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos inaugurated the "Roots Revival Week" in Alexandria city, with the participation of both the Greek and Cypriot communities in Egypt.

Greeks, Cypriots revive roots in Egypt

CAIRO - 30 April 2018: Egypt, Greece and have historical relations that have been documented in music, cinema and literature for several decades. For a whole week, starting Monday, under the title "Roots Revival Week", the three countries are going to recall their memories through several events.




According to Egypt’s Minister of Immigration, Makram, this program aimed to salute everyone who once lived in Egypt and left a positive impact and human heritage that still lasts until now. “Everyone was always welcomed to come and live in Egypt and they still are,” Makram said in statements to media outlets.

In a statement on the occasion of the launch of the first "Roots Revival Week" in Alexandria, Cypriot Ambassador in Cairo Charis Moritsis described Egyptian-Cypriot ties in all fields as "excellent."

Over the past years, relations between the two countries witnessed unprecedented development under the leadership of President Sisi and Cypriot President Anastasiades, Moritsis said.

He further stressed the importance of the program, "Roots Revival Week", saying it sends a message of peace, stability and cooperation for a better future.

Greeks recall their childhood memories in Egypt

CAIRO - 22 June 2018: "I have a lot of memories here. Egypt is the country where I was raised, lived and will be buried when my time comes," Greek national-Philip told Egypt Today, recalling his first days after arriving in Cairo in 1956 as an 8-year old child accompanied by his father who was trying to escape from the scourge of World War II.
