CAIRO – 20 May 2017: Egypt and Iraq are considering a draft memorandum of understanding regarding the extradition of convicts, said a statement of the Ministry of Justice Friday.

Khalid al-Nashar, assistant to the minister of Justice for Parliamentary and Media Affairs, stated that a joint committee of representatives of the two countries has been formed to facilitate the execution of tasks.

A meeting was held between Nashar and his Iraqi counterpart Haider Zamili together with the ambassador of Iraq to Egypt, Habib al-Sadr. They agreed on the exchange of experience in the legal and judicial fields, and the organization of mutual visits of judges and chancellors from the judicial bodies of both countries, according to the statement.

The visit comes on the sidelines of the participation of the Iraqi minister in the 60th meeting of the Arab League Executive Office of Arab Ministers of Justice at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.
