CAIRO – 16 July 2018: The German embassy in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh denied Sunday through its official account on Twitter recent Qatari media reports claim that the tiny emirate will expand its role in the NATO.

The Qatari newspaper, “Al Sharq”, published false press statements for the German Minister of defense Ursula von der Leyen on margins of NATO summit in Brussels, in which Von der Leyen called the Arab quartet’s boycott of Qatar a “conspiracy”. The Qatari media reports alleged on behalf of the German minister of defense that the emirate will acquire bigger role in the NATO.

The German embassy in Riyadh denied through Twitter the Qatari media reports, adding that Von der Leyen did not give such statements to any news outlets.
