CAIRO - 12 July 2018: The British Ambassador in Cairo John Casson thanked the Egyptian government on Wednesday for looking after refugees, pointing out that the UK supports Egypt with LE 76 million for refugees’ programs.

“The most important thing in any society is how it looks after the most vulnerable. Egypt has done so much to support refugees” Casson tweeted on Wednesday, affirming that “the UK is not leaving Egypt to carry this responsibility alone.”

“We’ve provided LE 75.9 million support for migrants & refugees, and EL 43.2 million for UNHCR,” he added.

Casson’s tweet followed a reception held at his residence on Monday with United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to mark World Refugee Day which is being celebrated on June 20 every year.

High profile Egyptian officials attended the reception, alongside representatives of donor countries and agencies, diplomats, NGOs’ representatives, businessmen and celebrities who support refugees.
