U.S. high court poised to rule on Trump travel ban, other cases

The U.S. Supreme Court, winding down its nine-month term, will issue rulings this week in its few remaining cases including a major one on the legality of President Donald Trump's ban on people from five Muslim-majority nations entering the country.

Trump has said the ban is needed to protect the United States from attacks by Islamic militants. Conservative justices indicated an unwillingness to second-guess Trump on his national security rationale.

49 people injured in Saturday's blast at president's rally: Zimbabwe police

On Sunday morningm the Zimbabwe police said that about 49 people were injured in the explosion at President Emmerson Mnangagwa's a political rally on Saturday, with the number expected to change.

"We expect the number to rise as some victims might come forward during the course of the day," national police spokeswoman Charity Charamba told journalists,adding that the "comprehensive investigations" were underway at Bulawayo's White City stadium where the incidence occurred.

Mauritania hosts upcoming African summit in July

The 31st summit of the African Union will take place in July in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott for the first time, reported Mauritania Radio.

The summit will adopt an African media strategy to face terrorism and extremism, according to the Radio. The radio made it clear that the summit convocation in the Mauritanian capital comes as a success of the Mauritanian diplomacy two years after hosting the Arab Summit.

The 31st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will convene under the theme: “Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.”

Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz has chaired the African Union in 2014. It will be the first time for Mauritanian to host the African Summit since its independent on November 28, 1960.
