Egypt Air Boeing 737-800 Creative Commons
CAIRO – 16 May 2017: EgyptAir will receive the fourth Boeing 737 aircraft next week, after purchasing nine planes at a cost of $864 million, said an official at the company on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to brief the media.
A delegation from the company flied to the United States on Tuesday to receive the plane that is due to arrive in Cairo International Airport next week, the official added.
In December 2016, Egypt Air received the first aircraft ordered as a part of a plan to upgrade its fleet; the second was the B737-800 NG, which arrived in Cairo in February 2017.
On May 7, Egypt Air celebrated its 85th anniversary with the arrival of its third Boeing B737-800.
