CAIRO – 11 June 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi expressed Monday thanks and appreciation to former Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on behalf of all Egyptians for the efforts carried out through the past years, saying that the Cabinet reshuffle aimed “to give change a chance.”
“I am used to talking to you with complete honesty,” Sisi stated. He revealed that the Cabinet was reshuffled as to give change a chance. He said that a celebration will be held to honor the former Cabinet, as it has endured “one of Egypt's cruelest times in modern history.”
Sisi had ordered Premier-designate, former Minister of Housing, Mostafa Madbouly, to form a new government to succeed that of Sherif Ismail.
In a ceremony organized by the Awqaf Ministry to mark Lailat al Qadr (the night of power or the night that the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad) on Monday, President Sisi greeted all Muslims worldwide.
He also thanked Al-Azhar and Awqaf scholars for their efforts in fighting extremism and spreading love among people.
President Sisi affirmed that the Islamic civilization was established by hard work and intensive efforts, adding that Islamic scholars were subsequently the origin of modern sciences, and affirming that this civilization is the bases that the government and people are working according to.

President Sisi said that Egypt has witnessed huge challenges, and Egyptians cooperated to fight against those who tried to harm the country. He said that Egyptians sacrificed themselves to defend the country, and have endured hard economic conditions and continued reformation efforts, in order for a modern country to be established.

Sisi also honored a blind Quran reciter and a reciter with special needs who are under 12 years old. President Sisi called for increasing the value of the LE 20,000 ($1120.5) prize granted to the latter.

Egypt's Minister of Religious Endowments Mokhtar Gomaa congratulated President Sisi for the second term, wishing him to achieve his goals and to continue to serve the country.
Gomaa granted Sisi two socio-religious books, including a book named “The Blessing of Water” that was prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, according to Gomma; the book discusses ways to preserve water.
During the conference, Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb, prayed that Allah protects Sisi.
Tayyeb affirmed that the Quran freed human beings from slavery, and racism, and freed their minds from ignorance. Islam granted women their rights, he said.
Tayyeb affirmed that there isn't any verse in the Quran calling for killing Christians or Jews, saying that the Quran has no place for such “brutal cruelty.” He explained that there are verses in the Quran calling for fighting aggressors only, even if they are Muslims.
Since 2013, Egypt has witnessed numerous terrorist attacks. President Sisi has repeatedly affirmed in his speeches the importance of reforming religious discourse.
On the same occasion last year, Sisi called on all members of the society to shoulder the responsibility and look towards the future with renouncing all forms of extremism, bigotry, and seclusion and focusing on tolerance and mercy.
He called on men of religion, intellectuals, scientists and artists to present to the world a model of a moderate religious discourse providing happiness to all human beings.
Sisi stressed the importance of firmly confronting all countries that support terrorism, calling for a clear strategy to combat all forms of terrorism without hesitation.
He said that Egypt's national security is a red line that cannot be crossed thanks to steadfastness of Egyptians and the sacrifices of policemen and army personnel.
