Cabinet denies rumors to change currency notes’ design

CAIRO 15 May 2017:Rumors of government attempt to change the design of currency notes are completely untrue, the Cabinet’s information and Decision Center (IDSC) stated Monday.

The center revealed it has contacted the Central Bank of Egypt over the issue; and affirmed that the latter denied any intentions to change the design of currency notes.


The Central Bank has urged all media outlets to confirm the accuracy and objectivity of disseminated information by communicating with the relevant ministries.


False news claiming a change in the design of currency notes have been circulating on social media and through news outlets over the last few days.
