CAIRO – 7 June 2018: Egypt and France will cooperate in a new cancer network to raise funds for cancer treatment and promote support for cancer patients in Egypt.

During his visit to the Cairo 57357 Children Cancer Hospital on Wednesday, French Ambassador to Cairo Stéphane Romatet announced the establishment of the network.

Romatet met with head and founder of the hospital, Dr. Sherif Abul Naga, as he expressed his admiration of the advancement the hospital made in the field of treating cancer for free.

The 57357 hospital has been treating children diagnosed with cancer since 2007.

Romatet also commended the cooperation between Cairo and Paris on the establishment of the network, namely Egypt Cancer Network-France (ECN-Fr).

“The ECN-Fr, whose creation is supported by the Cooperation and Cultural Action Department of the French Embassy, will aim to raise funds in France for the 57357 Hospital,” a statement by the French Embassy said.

The hospital is one of the biggest hospitals specialized in children's cancer in the world.

The number 57357 was the bank account number that would accept donations from the public to build the hospital.
