GENEVA - 2 June 2018: Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saffan met with his Saudi counterpart Ali bin Nasser Afis on the sidelines of the 107th session of the International Labor Conference held in Geneva, which will be concluded on June 8.

The ministers discussed a number of problems that concern the Egyptian workers in Saudi Arabia, as well as the implementation of a e-linkage between the two ministries, which contributes to the establishment of a database of the requirements of Saudi Arabia from Egyptian workers.

During the meeting, the two ministers stressed the deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries. Afis expressed his country's keenness to protect the rights of the Egyptian workers in Saudi Arabia.

Saffan also called on his Saudi counterpart to put in place a mechanism between the two ministries to bring the Egyptian workers to Saudi Arabia. He also called for implementing the e-linkage in a way that ensures the quality of the required technical workers and reducing the marginal workers and recruiting the workers needed by the Saudi labor market.

He stressed that the e-linkage between Egypt and Saudi Arabia will be a model to be followed, adding that it was agreed to continue consultations and coordination for the benefit of the two brotherly countries in the field of labor rights. (MENA)
