CAIRO – 29 May 2018: A delegation from the South Valley Development Committee headed by Engineer Ibrahim Mahlab, inspected Monday the national projects in Aswan’s center of Nasr Al-Nouba.
Presidential Assistant for National and Strategic Projects, Mahlab, inspected the LE320 million national Tahya Misr fund affiliated projects (about $1.79 million), including Abu Simbel village and Wadi Al-Arab village in the southern governorate of Aswan.

The two-day tour that started Sunday has included Presidential Assistant for Security Affairs Ahmed Gamal al-Din and Presidential Adviser for National Security Affairs Faiza Abul Naga. Mahlab inspected on Sunday a number of developmental projects.

With an area of 11 feddans (11.4 acres,) The Abu Simbel village project incorporates 50 housing units with a cost of LE 16.5 million (about $921 million). The project has been accomplished.
Meanwhile, Wadi Al-Arab village incorporates 100 housing units with an area of 79 feddans (82 acres) with a cost of LE 40 million (about $2.2 million); the project is almost finished.
In February, Magdi Hegazi, Aswan governor, said that the South Valley Development Committee was formed upon a presidential decree, adding that one of its main aims is to turn Aswan into a “capital for African culture and economy.”
The developmental plan in Aswan also include establishing a new dialysis center, developing Benban kibli hospital, and constructing sewage networks in a number of villages, among other developmental projects.
In August 2017, Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr announced that Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt) Fund will start working on an LE 320 million development plan for Aswan.

In a meeting with the executive committee of the fund, Nasr said that the projects will focus on housing, water and sanitation sectors. “We will start with Nasr El-Nuba region, for which we allocated LE 170 million,” Nasr said.
In January 2017, President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi ordered the establishment of an authority that would be tasked with the development of Upper Egypt, with investments of up to LE 5 billion (about $279 million), state-owned Al-Ahram reported. The authority would be tasked with creating jobs and protecting Nubian monuments.
During the second monthly youth conference in Aswan, Sisi announced establishing 200 small factories in Upper Egypt governorates. He also called for finishing development projects in Aswan by the end of June 2018.
The Long Live Egypt Fund (Tahya Masr) was initially established by President Sisi in 2014 to elicit donations in support of Egypt's development projects and its economy.
