Gargash: Qatar did not deal wisely with Arab Quartet boycott

CAIRO – 25 May 2018: United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Mohammed Gargash tweeted on Friday saying that Qatar did not deal wisely with its boycott measures, which are coming up on their first anniversary in a few days.
“Not acknowledging its damage to its neighbors, the claim of injustice, purchasing support and waiting for the sincere, is a strategy that proved a failure,” he tweeted.

لم تتعامل قطر بحكمة مع إجراءات مقاطعتها وسعت إلى تحركات أججت أزمتها ولَم تفكّها، عدم الإقرار بإضرارها لجيرانها وإدعاء المظلومية وشراء الدعم وإنتظار المخلّص إستراتيجية أثبتت فشلها، دروس السنة الماضية لعلها تنفع في تغيير التوجه.

I hope that a year from the boycott will produce a new thought and a wise approach in Doha. The change will not be through public relations companies, regional squabbles and external intervention, but through a review of policies that have caused damage and contributed to extremism and terrorism, Gargash tweeted.

لعل مرور سنة على المقاطعة سينتج فكرا جديدا ومقاربة أكثر حكمة في الدوحة، فالمخرج لن يكون عبر شركات العلاقات العامة والمناكفات الإقليمية والتدخل الخارجي لحلّ الأزمة، بل عبر مراجعة وتراجع عن سياسات سببت الضرر وساهمت في دعم التطرّف والإرهاب.

It would not be helpful for Doha to blame the United Arab Emirates, target Saudi Arabia, or undermine the security of Bahrain and Egypt. Internal auditing is a necessity, and the problem is that Doha seeks to target the security of its neighbors and support extremism and terrorism in the region, Gargash mentioned.

لن ينفع أن تلوم الدوحة الإمارات تارة وتستهدف السعودية تارة أو تتجاهل تقويضها لأمن البحرين ومصر، المراجعة الداخلية واجبة، والمشكلة هي في سعيّها عبر السنوات إستهداف أمن جيرانها ودعمها للتطرف والإرهاب في المنطقة.

“In terms of Doha's handling of its crisis, we can conclude that isolation is continuing under a strategy that failed to dismantle the crisis and even proved the continuation of the damage. A new geo-strategic reality that we deal with minimal damage and will only be changed by revision and regression,” he tweeted.

ومن واقع تعامل الدوحة مع أزمتها بإمكاننا أن نستنتج أن العزل مستمر في ظل إستراتيجية فشلت في تفكيك الأزمة بل وأثبتت إستمرار الضرر، واقع جيوإستراتيجي جديد نتعامل معه بأقل درجة من الضرر ولن يغيره سوى المراجعة و التراجع.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain announced they are severing relations with Qatar over "its continuous support for terrorism," closing their airspace and seaports for Qatari transportation in June 2017.
“Protecting national security from the dangers of terrorism and extremism, Saudi Arabia has decided to cut diplomatic ties and consular relations with the State of Qatar,” announced the Saudi Foreign Ministry in a statement. 

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain cut diplomatic ties with Qatar

CAIRO - 5 June 2017: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain announced they are severing relations with Qatar over "its continuous support for terrorism," closing their airspace and seaports for Qatari transportation on Monday. The four Arab countries withdrew their diplomatic missions from Qatar.
