CAIRO - 17 May 2018 (MENA) - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will leave for Istanbul Friday on a lightning visit to participate in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extraordinary summit on the latest Israeli aggression on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Shoukry will represent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi at the OIC summit, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Thursday.
He will expound Egypt's firm stance towards the Palestinian issue, the status of Jerusalem, the grave humanitarian conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and Cairo's efforts to ease the sufferings of the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, Abu Zeid added.
Turkey currently holds the rotating chairmanship of the 57-member OIC.
On Monday, Israeli occupation forces killed at least 61 Palestinians and injured thousands along the Gaza border during protests against the transfer of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
