Sand storm hits Egypt - Press Photo
CAIRO – 10 May 2018: As a dust-filled storm hits Egypt for two days, starting Thursday May 10, 2018, Ministry of Environment urged citizens to minimize their exposure to the bad weather as much as possible.
In a press statement on Thursday, the ministry also called on people suffering from respiratory diseases to avoid stepping out to eschew any possible health complications, and called on travelers to postpone their trips.
The ministry also set up a hotline 19808 to receive any complaints from citizens about any problems they may encounter due the turbulent weather conditions.

On Tuesday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority issued that strong gusty winds are expected to hit the country amid a gradual rise in temperatures.
Chairman of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel Aal attributed the predicated squall to the annual sandstorm of Kamaseen (Fifty) which is coming from the Sahara Desert in North Africa.

Maritime ports of Suez, al-Zayat, and Nuweiba were closed due to the bad weather, according to a statement from the Red Sea Ports Authority.

In Suez governorate, five people were injured in a road accident caused by the dust storm. Many parts of Aswan governorate saw electricity outage.
