Fire engine dispatched to rescue kitten
CAIRO – 10 May 2017: A kitten has been rescued by the fire fighters after spending three days in a small stairwell in Cairo’s blue-collar district of Shubra.
The residents of the apartment building were not able to reach the kitten because it had been trapped in a very narrow place, but they threw scraps to feed it.
A woman reported the case to the fire department, which dispatched a fire engine and six of its staff to the narrow street where the building was located. The rescue was completed successfully in half an hour last Monday.
The owners of the second-floor apartment allowed a ladder into their home through the balcony, and then through to their kitchen, which overlooks the stairwell.
