Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram – EgyptToday/Amr Moustafa
ALEXANDRIA - 30 April 2018: Immigration Minister Nabila Makram said the "Roots Revival" initiative, which will be launched from Egypt later Monday, is the first of its kind.
Egypt is the first country to honor foreign communities that had once lived on its soil, Makram told MENA Sunday night.
She was speaking on the sidelines of an inking ceremony of a twinship agreement between the Cypriot city of Paphos and Egypt's Alexandria.
The "Roots Revival" initiative will continue and will include many activities in the future, the minister said.
Egypt is keen on hosting Greek and Cypriot nationals who had lived in the different Egyptian cities, Makram noted.
They will visit places they had lived in in the city of Alexandria, such as Zizinia, Cleopatra and Mahatet el Raml, before heading to Cairo, she made it clear.
The program also includes a visit to the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh, Makram added.
