CAIRO – 26 April 2018: Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar affirmed Wednesday the need to train police personnel to be capable of defending the country against whoever looks to destabilize it.
During his tour of a police training institution that is under construction, Abdel Ghaffar said that the training inside the institution should emulate reality and match various probable challenges.
Abdel Ghaffar said the institution should provide police personnel with the training required to be able to face crimes. He also affirmed the need to update training programs to prepare the trainees to fight terrorism, especially in North Sinai.

In February, army spokesman Colonel Tamer el-Refae announced in a strongly worded televised statement that the military and police forces have initiated Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018.
It involved land, naval and air forces, as well as the police and border guards, targeting "terrorist and criminal elements and organizations" in North and Central Sinai, as well as parts of the Nile Delta and the Western Desert along the porous border with Libya, strongholds of a persistent Islamic State (IS) group insurgency that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Egyptian soldiers and police.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said he is following with pride the heroics of the army and police in Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018. In a post on his official Facebook page, Sisi said, "I follow with pride the heroics of my sons from the Armed Forces and the Police to purge the beloved land of Egypt from terrorists, the enemies of life. And always, long live Egypt."
The war against terrorist groups in Sinai since 2013 has left hundreds of victims among civilians and military and police personnel.
