CAIRO – 22 April 2018: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday commended North Korea’s decision to suspend nuclear and missiles tests, instead pursuing economic growth and peace in the region.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement asserted Egypt’s stance for not using or seeking violence in foreign affairs, and its dependence on peaceful settlements of international conflicts.
The statement also stressed the necessity of denuclearization in adherence to the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons treaty.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country no longer needed to conduct nuclear tests or intercontinental ballistic missile tests because it had completed its goal of developing the weapons.
Kim is scheduled to hold talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-in next week and with U.S. President Donald Trump in late May or early June.
