Sisi: Arab national security topped talks in Kuwait’s visit

CAIRO – 8 May 2017: Boosting and protecting Arab national security were at the heart of the Egypt-Kuwait summit on Sunday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi told Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai in an interview published on its website Monday.

Sisi visited Kuwait as part of a Gulf tour that included four stops. During the visit, Sisi met with Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah and senior Kuwaiti officials.

The visit “comes in the framework of distinctive bilateral relations between both countries,” said Sisi, adding that Kuwait’s supporting stance to Egypt “cannot be forgotten.”

Sisi said that the visit “has succeeded to push forward the horizons of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and to continue joint coordination in dealing with challenges facing the Arab nation.”

The visit has gained attention of Kuwaiti newspapers, which shed light on the two leaders’ talks about supporting the inter-Arab unity and promoting security interests.

Al-Seyassah newspaper highlighted Sisi’s statements during the visit saying that “Cairo stands by Kuwait and the Gulf countries” against any regional or international threats.

During the visit, President Sisi asserted that Egypt will not allow the undermining of security and stability of the Gulf countries, Al-Seyassah reported.

Meanwhile, Al-Anbaa newspaper cited President Sisi’s remarks that the Gulf security constitutes “a red line.”

The paper also reported how the Kuwaiti emir lauded the Egyptian expatriates’ contributions to the “renaissance development” in Kuwait.
