CAIRO – 14 April 2018: Following the U.S., UK and France’s strikes on targets associated with chemical weapons in Syria, people across the world flooded social media platforms with diverse reactions.

From sharing a message of solidarity to the Syrians to expressing shock and concern over the unprecedented U.S.-led strike, social media users are posting with hashtags of Syria, and El-Edwan el-Tholathy, which translates to the “triple aggression”, and the hashtags are actively trending worldwide.

A Twitter user and a retired officer of the Syrian Army, Hamza Sulyman, published pictures of the Syrians gathering in the capital in celebration of their bravery and in defiance of onslaught.

“How many Syrian refugees have this strike spawned?” asked another Twitter user.

A third Twitter user condemned Iranian/Russian support of the Syrian regime in killing his people with chemicals.

“Nothing is more abhorrent than seeing those who have been witnessing the interventions of the Russians and Iranians in killing the Syrian people over more than seven years and are now crying about Syrian sovereignty and cursing the West over some precise and limited strikes launched specifically against the criminal regime of Syria.”

In response to the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons, the U.S., in coordination with the UK and France announced air strikes against the chemical weapons stocks belonging to the Syrian regime.

Egypt voiced its concern about the latest military escalation in Syria as it is expected to bring negative implications for the safety of the Syrian people and threaten the understandings reached on de-escalation zones, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared in a statement on Saturday.
