CAIRO – 13 April 2018: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen condemned the burning of the Aqraba mosque by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on Friday.

In press remarks, the Palestinian president stated that was not the first time the settlers carried out similar attacks at mosques and churches in the occupied Palestinian territories, and reiterated that that those settlers have been committing serious crimes under the nose of the Israeli forces and “that they still get away with them.”

Abu Mazen further affirmed that the Palestinian presidency will sue the Israeli settlers at relevant international organizations and will seek punishment for the perpetrators of such heinous crimes.

At the early hours of Friday, Israeli settlers were reported to have attempted to storm and burn down the Aqraba mosque in the town of Nabuls by hurling incendiary devices at it.

According to Palestinian sources, the settlers also spray-printed racist slogans on its walls before leaving the mosque completely demolished.
