Elections of Free Egyptians Party,"Sawiris Front",started

CAIRO – 6 May 2017: The voting procedures of the Free Egyptians Party, "Sawiris Front", and elections began Friday to appoint its high commission members, president and head of secretariat, in the presence of Eng. Naguib Sawiris.

Meanwhile, the only candidate for presidency of the Free Egyptians Party, Dr. Mahmoud el-Allaily, said that the party’s situation will change after the elections, noting that the Board of Trustees is the only entity representing the Free Egyptians Party.

An independent committee will be supervising the elections headed by Chancellor Jamil Barsoum, and monitored by several civil society organizations. This is taking place in the presence of representatives of newspapers, news websites and satellite channels in appreciation of the role of the media.

Sawiris had been a member of the party’s board of trustees since 2011 until the general assembly – in Sawiris’ absence - dissolved the board in 2016.

The Free Egyptians Party has 596 members, and is considered the largest political party in the Parliament, with a total of 65 seats.
