CAIRO – 6 April 2018: Cairo parks welcome visitors on Friday for free to celebrate Orphans’ Day which takes place on the first Friday of April every year, in order to show support for the kids and raise awareness to their needs.

On this day, many events are held to allow the kids to enjoy and engage with society, and also to fundraise for the orphanages.

Cairo Governor Atef Abdelhamid said that all gardens and parks in Cairo opened their doors for all children from orphanages and NGOs to play and enjoy a beautiful day.

Abdelhamid directed the governorate to organize entertainment programs including free face-coloring so the children enjoy their day.

The idea to have an Orphans’ Day began with an initiative from an Egyptian NGO in 2003; the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers of the Arab league in 2006 recognized it as a day for orphanages in the Arab World.

Sisi: Orghanage day shows Values of solidarity among Egyptians

Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi tweeted on Friday” We celebrate the Orphanage day during the first Friday from April every year. In a unique human scene that highlights the values of solidarity and nobility among the Egyptian society. My call for all Egyptians to celebrate with our kids who mised their parents of families, hoping to provide them a better live and future”
