CAIRO – 2 April 2018: Egypt's Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan said that the government is closely following the collision involving two buses in Kuwait, Sunday night in which a total of 15 workers were killed, including five Egyptians, and three others were injured.

In statements Monday morning, Saafan affirmed that the ministry is coordinating with the embassy in Kuwait to finish all the needed procedures for moving the Egyptian national corpses back home.

All of the victims were announced to belong to Burgan Drilling, a subcontractor for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). They include seven Indians and three Pakistanis, Mohammed Al-Basri, head of public relations at KOC, told AFP. Shortly after the incident took place, the company issued a formal statement on its official Twitter account, explaining the collision in detail.

Howayda Essam, an Egyptian diplomat in Kuwait, told Middle East News Agency Sunday, that the consulate is following the situation closely. She added that the consulate contacted Kuwaiti officials once it learned that Egyptian nationals were among the victims.

She said the consulate has urged Kuwaiti authorities to finish the procedures required to move the five bodies to Egypt.
