Int’l Coalition of Nazaha holds final conference on Egypt’s elections

CAIRO – 30 March 2018: International coalition of Nazaha (Integrity) that was monitoring Egypt’s electoral process held a press conference to report the findings of its electoral observation mission.

The electoral scene was void of voter fraud and manipulation, Ayman Okail, Nazaha’s spokesman said on Friday. Some human rights international organizations showed a clear bias. “While some jumped to the conclusion that the election is not fair and flawed before it even started.”

He further added that the role of human rights organizations that monitor any electoral process is to ensure that related procedures are well implemented, apart from politics.

“I invite them to reconsider their assessment and positions in light of what has been revealed recently concerning the electoral process," Okail stated during the press conference that was held at the wake of the presidential election that granted President Sisi another four-year term.

The Coalition of Integrity is comprised of three local and international organizations: the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights in Egypt, the Lebanese Volunteers without Borders, and the Ecumenical Organization for Human Rights and Development in Geneva, Switzerland.
In previous statements, Riyadh Issa, president of Nazaha Organization, said the standards set by the NEA concerning the electoral process match international standards.

According to preliminary results, Sisi was reelected with a landslide victory against al-Ghad Party candidate Moussa Moustafa Moussa. Initial figures showed that 21,088,295 voted for Sisi in polling stations across Egypt, excluding several stations in Cairo and Giza; Moussa on the other hand gathered 682,797 votes.
