CAIRO – 30 March 2018: Presidential candidate and head of El Ghad Party Moussa Moustafa Moussa said on Thursday that he aims to lead the constructive opposition which works in favor of the Egyptian people because the country needs the cooperation of all political parties in the coming period.

After the end of the presidential polls took place on March 26-28, Moussa said that the initial results showed that he collected about 1.5 million votes in total, which means that he lost the race.

However, Moussa, the sole contender of incumbent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, added that the voting process was positive and described his experience in the presidential election as “excellent”.

Moussa further added that the Egyptian people are the actual winner in the election, stressing his willingness to cooperate with Sisi in his next four-year term.

Moussa stressed that he has an economic development program and will present it to the president-elect to help in bridging the gap caused by the flotation of the Egyptian pound against the dollar.

The polls' initial figures showed that 21,088,295 voted for Sisi in polling stations across Egypt, excluding several stations in Cairo and Giza. The final results of the first round will be announced officially on April 2.
