CAIRO – 26 March 2018: Well-known Egyptian diplomat, Amr Moussa, cast his vote in the 2018 presidential election at the fifth settlement neighborhood early on Monday.
Egypt is currently witnessing the third presidential election since the Arab Spring, which resulted in the ouster of Hosni Mubarak from the presidency and allowed the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group to rule Egypt for one year before millions of Egyptians revolted against the group and its affiliated president, Mohamed Morsi, in 2013.
Moussa, a former secretary of the Arab League and foreign minister, along his wife, headed to take part in the electoral process on the first day of the election. The three-days of voting will last until March 28, and the results of the election will be announced on April 2, unless there is a need to hold a run-off round.
Egyptians headed on Monday to the polling stations to elect Egypt's next president in a race pitting incumbent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi against Al-Ghad party chairperson, Moussa Moustafa Moussa.
