CAIRO – 26 March 2018: Thousands of workers from different governorates, carrying out the construction work at the New Administrative Capital, had the opportunity to cast their votes in two polling stations in the New Administrative Capital.

The two polling stations were established at the New Administrative Capital, which is still under construction, for workers to vote in the presidential election that began on Monday, March 26.

Chairman of the New Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, told Egypt Today in an earlier statement, that the two polling stations will be provided for around 50,000 workers currently carrying out the construction work at the New Administrative Capital. Voting will be spaced out across the three days to avoid work delays and overcrowding at the stations.

Abdeen remarked that the stations will include judges, delegates and security forces to secure the electoral process.

He added that these stations will be close to the projects' sites and premises, indicating that the company will coordinate with the National Election Authority and other entities to set up polling stations inside hangars.

He further remarked that the ballot boxes will be transferred to the main station at Badr City for counting.

The New Administrative Capital is the current government’s ambitious means of expanding urban development in Cairo to accommodate Egypt's the rising population. The project was announced in 2015 and is being developed by the New Administrative Capital for Urban Development.
