Egyptian, Indian FMs discuss bolstering bilateral cooperation

CAIRO - 23 March 2018: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held a session of talks on Friday with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, during Shoukry’s current visit to New Delhi to participate in the 7th session of the Egyptian-Indian joint higher committee.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations in all fields in addition to a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.

Shoukry asserted during the meeting Egypt’s keenness to foster cooperation with India in all domains, pointing to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to India in September 2016 and his invitation to the Indian prime minister to visit Cairo.

The meeting also touched on the Egyptian-Indian cooperation to combat terrorism, with Shoukry expressing Egypt’s appreciation of the Indian relevant support.

On that score, Shoukry lauded the Indian votes for the draft resolutions presented by Cairo to the UN General Assembly and the UN Human Rights Council with regard to countering terrorism.
