CAIRO - 22 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi gave on Thursday directives to officials to continue efforts of developing higher education mechanism to upgrade Egyptian universities and institutes.

He underlined that permits should not be given to any university unless it signs a twinship agreement with the best university abroad to guarantee a better level education to university students.

Sisi made the remarks during his meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and head of Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Kamel el Wazir.

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said Abdel Ghaffar expounded the measures taken so far to develop higher education mechanism and sign twinship agreements with many universities abroad.

The minister talked about the outcome of his latest visits to the UK, Germany and France to upgrade higher education in Egypt.

He expounded the developments of setting up a number of new universities in Egypt, including the complex of Canadian universities in the New Administrative Capital, the Japanese University, El Galala University, New Alamein University and New Mansoura University.

Abdel Ghaffar referred to the new legislative amendments to be introduced within the coming period to develop higher education mechanism and encourage innovation.
