CAIRO – 2 May 2017: Egyptian Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhi travelled to Côte d'Ivoire with high-level delegates to attend the 6th meeting of Sahel and Sahara Defence Ministers which aims at regional cooperation among the African countries in various fields, Tuesday.

The minister will hold several meetings with several of his foreign counterparts to promote military cooperation in several fields especially the security and defence field.

The Sahel and Sahara meeting is the second largest sub-regional grouping on the African continent after the African Union which includes 27 member states.

On March 2016, the 5th meeting of Sahel and Sahara Defence Ministers was held in Sharm El-Sheikh which included ministers from 27 Arab and African states as well as five European countries, including France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Spain.
