CAIRO- 2 May 2017: Cairo Airport started Monday to allow citizens of North Africa who have residence in Arab Gulf states to obtain Egyptian visas on arrival as part of ongoing efforts to promote tourism.
Citizens of Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco who have residence in Gulf countries will be granted entrance visas on arrival without the typical bureaucratic complications of applying for a visa in Egyptian embassies and consulates and security approvals.
The decision excludes citizens of Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Sudan.
The decision had been announced previously by Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed. The initiative will be followed by launching an electronic visa system in June for all foreigners who are willing to visit Egypt.
