‘‘We can upgrade the poorest villages in Egypt within one year’’ Sisi

CAIRO – 1 May 2017: A total of 180 residential units for Egyptian families in the most dangerous informal settlements will be finalized by June 30, 2018, President Abdel Fatah Sisi stated Monday, expressing his gratitude for the banks that will help reconstruct the poorest villages.


"I have a dream to replace the one-floor house with a two- or three-floors unit to eliminate building on agriculture lands," Sisi said in an interview on On E. Sisi added that the government is studying the distribution of five thousand cattle livestock to families in the villages in need, every month, as a small-sized project.


Referring to the population growth as one of Egypt's biggest challenges, Sisi stated that the nation’s population control efforts are substandard and that Egyptian awareness needs to be developed in this regard.


"We are studying laws to address this, including incentives," Sisi stated, stressing on the need to spread awareness through family planning campaigns.


"Poverty is what drives citizens to radicalism and extremism," Sisi added.


The Egyptian president further elaborated that the state has been cooperating with NGOs to contribute to the development of poor villages. "We paid them one million EGP last year and we promised a million more from Tahya Misr fund, if needed," Sisi said.
