CAIRO – 16 March 2018: As Egypt’s 2018 presidential elections kicked off on Friday, Egypt Today sheds the light on the updates of the process, which has seen higher-than expected voter turnout.
Egypt's presidential race resumes in Japan, two Koreas
Egypt's embassies in Japan and two Koreas started early Saturday to receive Egyptian expatriates residing in Tokyo, Seoul and Pyongyang who come to vote in the second day of the 2018 presidential election scheduled to last until Sunday.
The Egyptian ambassadors in the three countries affirmed their readiness for the Saturday’s ballot, adding that the voting process began at 2am (Cairo time).
Second day of expats vote kicks off Saturday
For the second day in a row, the Egyptian embassy in New Zealand opened its doors on Friday at 10pm (Cairo time) for expatriates to cast ballots in the 2018 presidential election scheduled to last until Sunday.
Consulates and embassies across the world were to officially open their doors Saturday at 9am local time in each country.
The Egyptian embassy in New Zealand was the first to open to the electorate, given an 11 hour time difference with Cairo.
Australia, China, Japan, Russia and Indonesia followed shortly throughout the night.

Egyptian expatriates began casting their ballots early Friday in China and Southeast Asia in the first day of the 2018 presidential election scheduled to last for three days.
