Mai El-Sabagh released on LE 20,000 bail after 15 days in jail

CAIRO – 15 March 2018: East Alexandria Prosecution ordered to release journalist, Mai elSabagh, on LE 20,000 bail and cameraman Ahmad Mustafa on LE 1,000 bail, according to lawyer Mahienour elMasry.

The two have been detained for 15 days since the beginning of March, while preparing a report on the historic Alexandria tramway for UAE-based Al Bayan newspaper.


They faced charges of "filming without a license,"according to statements and social media updates of the journalists' family members and lawyers.

Some other sources said that the charges include belonging to an outlawed group and possession of visual and audio equipment with the intent to spread false news.
