CAIRO – 13 March 2018: The Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church received on Monday a new church in the name of Saint Demiana and Saint Cyril VI in Worthing and Brighton city, England, according to an official statement from the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The statement added that the Bishop of Tanta, Bishop Paula, the supervisors of the Church of Brighton and some Coptic people were inaugurating the church.
Bihop Paula said that the church will begin the prayer in the week of al-Baskha and the Day of Resurrection after finish the preparation of the church.
In his speech on this occasion, Bishop Paula thanked Pope Twadros for encouraging the Church Council to purchase the church; noting that the pope was following the process of purchase himself.
Pope Tawadros II visited the church during his visit to Brighton in May and blessed the project.
In the same context, Pope Tawadros has inaugurated on August 2017, the first Coptic Orthodox church in Japan with a number of Coptic bishops including the Bishop of Sydney in Australia, Daniel, in addition to the Egyptian Ambassador to Japan, Ismail Khairat.
