CAIRO – 12 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi embarked on a quick tour on Monday morning to visit Rod el Farag axis, Tahya Misr Eastern Bridge and Sphinx International Airport in west of Cairo. The projects are considered a part of Egypt’s huge development plan that will contribute in solving several problems including heavy traffic.

In an official statement issued by the presidency’s spokesperson Bassam Rady, it was stated that the president's tour comes in light of his keenness to follow-up on the latest updates regarding the major projects that are under construction.

Rod el Farag axis will make a huge contribution in solving the traffic problem in Egypt as it is considered to be the first road in West Cairo to connect the ring road with the regional road, and the Qattara lowlands with the Northern Coast. About 85 percent of the project’s second phase has been completed.

Sisi also visited Tahya Misr Eastern Bridge which is considered the world’s longest flyover bridge. It was fully designed and constructed by Egyptian companies, according to the statement.

The Sphinx International Airport is expected to accommodate 300 passengers per hour. Also, it will reduce the pressure on Cairo International Airport and areas of Central Cairo.

Sisi usually visits the projects that his government announced establishing as part of the development plans and holds regular meetings with ministers to discuss projects' updates and problems.

On February 27, Sisi met with ministers of housing, investment and international cooperation, along with Prime Minster Sherif Ismail. According to another statement released by Rady, Sisi discussed the recent updates regarding the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein City and a number of the new housing projects all over the country.
