CAIRO – 30 April 2017: The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Sunday Wagdi Ghoneim and two others to death, referring his case to the Grand Mufti over terror-related charges.
The defendants were accused of establishing a terror cell between 2003 and 2015 which targeted overthrowing the regime, obstructing the constitution, endangering public peace and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood group.
Ghoneim was convicted in several other cases alongside the ousted President Mohamed Morsi, also member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Ghoneim was found guilty of inciting violence and a series of terrorist attacks, especially against the police and military, particularly in Sinai.
