CAIRO – 9 March 2018: A number of Al-Azhar doctors have examined 2,385 patients in the Bahariya Oasis within two days as part of an Azhar medical convoy, according to media reports.
The doctors have also managed to conduct 66 surgeries of different kinds, including caesarian sections, since the convoy started its activities on March 8 in the Bahariya Oasis, Western Desert.
As many as 22 doctors from Al-Azhar University are participating in the convoy and will resume their work in the oasis until March 13, according to Tayseer Abdel Fattah, head of Bahariya Oasis Center.

Last February, Al-Azhar dispatched a medical convoy to Burkina Faso to conduct free check-ups, perform surgeries and provide free medicines for patients. The 10-day convoy conducted 401 surgeries.
In November, Al-Azhar’s relief delegation in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh distributed 100 tons of relief items to Rohingya refugees, according to Al-Azhar relief convoy head Mohamed Al-Abd.
