CAIRO – 30 April 2017: Egypt received the third and latest addition to EgyptAir’s fleet of Boeing B737-800 NG jets Sunday, as part of an overall plan to modernize the flag carrier airline of Egypt.
The aircraft, carrying a delegation of EgyptAir company, left Seattle, U.S., Saturday evening, after finalizing all necessary measures, such as the FAA inspection, export approval, accreditation of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, as well as loading EgyptAir data and systems on aircraft computers.
The third aircraft is part of a $864 million deal between EgyptAir and Boeing, including the delivery of nine airplanes by the end of 2017. The first jet was received in December 2016.
EgyptAir, which owns 20 jets of the B737-800 model, seeks raising the capacity of its fleet to reach 105 jets in 2020, and 156 in 2025.
“The 737 delivers the superior reliability, fuel efficiency and high-value returns operators require[d] in today's competitive market,” according to the official Boeing website.
